Indigenous Employee Development Program
Nokiiwin Tribal Council is helping Indigenous organizations hire and train the help they need!
The Indigenous Employee Development program (IEDP) helps employers who are having trouble finding qualified workers for entry-level or semi-skilled positions. Under this program, new workers develop a training plan for their first year of work. After this period of job-embedded training, workers will be skilled, productive, and ready to contribute to your organization's long-term success. This program also includes a wage subsidy and capacity-building support for employers.
In response to community requests, we are starting two new cohorts of participants in the IEDP in the fall of 2026. The first is for Health and Safety workers, including any workers who have been asked to sit on their organization's Joint Health and Safety Committee. The second is for Client Care workers, including case managers, social service workers, and any other similar front-line workers.
Employees who join the program receive training and support over a full year designed to help them succeed in their role. Employers receive a small wage subsidy to cover time that workers spend in training.
