The conference will include background on restorative justice, including challenges and successes, and who needs to be involved to make it successful. The goal is to build community capacity to facilitate Restorative Justice practices for those who have harmed and those who have been harmed.
The conference would be facilitated by Celina Reitberger, L.LB. who is currently Chair of the Thunder Police Services Board. She is also the former Executive Director of Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services where she introduced and developed the Restorative Justice Program in the Nishnawbe-Aski Nation territory. The conference will be co-facilitated by Restorative Justice Coordinators Jennifer McKenzie and Renee Pervais. Elders experience with Restorative Justice will lend their wisdom and knowledge.
Also invited will be Thunder Bay Indigenous Friendship Centre, Nishnawbe-Aski Legal Services Corporation, Grand Council Treaty #3, the Crown Attorney’s office, Police and Victim Services, and other justice personnel.
